Popaball Bursting bubbles FAQ

If you're new to the world of Popaball you may be quite curious and have a few questions bubbling up in your mind. We've compiled a list of what we think are the most important and frequently asked questions about our bursting bubbles, our products and how to use them.

Introduction to Popaball

Hi! We are a Newcastle based company who specialises in bursting bubbles and drink shimmers for use in cocktails, prosecco, gin and tonics and cold drinks. We have a range of Bursting Bubbles, drink shimmers and alcohol gift sets available, such as prosecco giftsgin gifts, cider gifts and vodka gifts.

What are Bursting Juice Bubbles?

Traditionally used in bubble tea, our bursting bubbles are also known as popping boba which are often used as an alternative to using tapioca. They are little bubbles of fruity juice which burst in your mouth with flavour when you bite down on them!

What are they made from?

The outer casing of these bubble tea boba bubbles is made from a seaweed extract so these little bundles of deliciousness are vegan and coeliac friendly (but still check the label!).

How do I use Popaball Bursting Bubbles?

Add a generous spoonful into your favourite cold drinks (not just bubble tea) such as juices, milkshakes, cocktails, G&Ts or prosecco, suck them up through a chunky straw included in the pack and feel them burst with fruity juice as you bite them. In super fizzy prosecco they float to the top so you can nibble them off the top, try Popaball Bubbles for Prosecco.

How much do I use in drinks?

Each tub has enough boba for 3 cocktails (a third of a tub) or 6 flutes of prosecco but you can choose to eat the leftovers with a spoon if you feel inclined!

How many calories do they have?

Each serving, one third of a tub, only contains 33cals so these are a guilt free addition to any drink.

Can I use bursting bubbles in hot drinks?

Boba tend to melt in hot drinks so it's best not to use them if you want to experience the bursts of juice!

Can I freeze my bubbles?

Yes you can try freezing them, they may lose their shape slightly but they still taste just as yummy! Try adding strawberry boba into champagne ice lollies or to make some fancy ice cubes for your cocktails.

Do Bursting Bubbles float in drinks?

Our bursting bubbles can often float in super fizzy drinks such as prosecco by taking some time to absorb the fizz and dancing their way to the top of the glass. However this is not guaranteed as some bubbles prefer to sit at the bottom of your glass.

Are they suitable for vegetarians?

Yes, our boba are vegetarian friendly as the outer casing is made using a seaweed extract NOT gelatine. Some of them are also suitable for vegans and coeliacs but be sure to check the label.

Where can I get chunky straws?

There is a telescopic chunky straw in every pack of Popaball bubbles. To use this straw, pull on either end to extend the straw to twice its length and then angle the adjustable joint. You can also buy a pack of 4 chunky bubble tea straws from our website to use at home.

I can't see chunky straws in my order, where are they?

You will find a telescopic chunky straw hiding inside each box of Bursting Bubbles so remember to check inside before panicking!

How long do my bubbles last?

Unopened they will keep at room temperature for around 6 months. Once you open them replace the lid and keep them in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
